MAME is an acronym for Multi Arcade Machine Emulator which is an application aim to help you emulate an arcade game machine on your computer. so you can use it to play some classic arcade games used in video arcades from the 1970’s until the modern age.
As game technology continues to improve, MAME prevents this important “vintage” game from being lost and forgotten. This was achieved by documenting the hardware and its functions, thanks to the talent of programmers from the MAME team and from other contributors. Being able to play the game is just a good side effect, which is not always the case. MAME tries hard to imitate the game faithfully.
To use this application, you need a ROM image with game data (files). Most game image available on the Internet cannot be used unless you also have an arcade machine. Luckily, the developer can provide you with several game ROMs that can get you started and help you understand the interface.
The app can be run in command line mode to see a list of available commands and to enter command arguments. This allows you to adjust the screen brightness, input device, and video options that are applied to the emulator.
The interface is very simple and allows you to choose a game from the list or to adjust player controls before starting to play. You can also use the mouse to move the cursor to navigate options quickly.
The emulator replicates the arcade machine in great detail and allows you to change the display settings or player controls. It’s able to capture snapshots of video games to save funny or interesting moments.
Each game has special requirements that are displayed when launching the application. However, it must accommodate any computer because it is designed for use on machines with less processing power, the program ran smoothly and not required a big amount of memory.
