Password Safe is a small open source tool that allows you to manage your password and easily and quickly generate, retrieve, store, manage and use complex new passwords, using a password policy that you control. Only need a few click to save your username and password. The application interface is very simple, so it must be easily known by any user.
To open a database that includes all the passwords you stored you need a ‘master password’ of your choice. To make an entry, you must give it a name. Furthermore, you can fill the additional info such as the URL, email address, personal notes, user ID, category or location related to the password that you saved.
The contents of this entry can be copied to the Clipboard so that it can be used to log into various accounts easily and quickly. If you have ever changed the key combination for a particular account, it is always possible to edit the existing entries.
Passwords Safe works by creating a virtual safe (password database) where you can store passwords. When you need it, you open the safe and copy the password, closing it again after you finish. You can make as many safes as you need.
Passwords Safe allow users to store all passwords in one database, or create multiple databases for different purposes (e.g., one for work, one for home). Each independent database can be moved and used on a different system, provided the same version as the Password Safe is installed.
If you are using this tool for the first time, press the New Database button. You will be asked to choose the name and location of your password database (by default, “pwsafe.psafe3”). After that, you will be asked to enter the master password which is used to encrypt and lock the contents of your new safe (but the master password is not stored in any database).
This is a good tool that will come in handy every day. One of the main benefits of the app is its clear layout and comprehensive options as a good combination.
